Today we had a few more new participants join us. We covered checkmates in two moves over the board. The key idea is to look for forcing moves. A forcing move is one which requires the opponent to reply in a certain way, or which greatly limits the ways in which they can respond. Majority of forced moves are giving checks as the opponent is forced to either capture the piece giving the check, move the king, or block the check with another piece.

We had quite a full house today and it was fun to watch free play at the end between the players. Using the clock initially can be distracting and it takes time but you get used to it.

Thank you to our participants for their enthusiasm and to the parents for supporting your children.
